Pursuing the Decree No. 23/2015/ND-CP issued on February 16th, 2015 by the Government on notarization, judicial authentication, and other related documents, the Justice Departments of districts and cities in provinces have the authority and responsibility to authenticate copies of the originals in foreign languages, authenticate the translator’s signature on the papers and documents translated from foreign languages to Vietnamese, or from Vietnamese to foreign languages. Moreover, from January 1st, 2015, notary offices have the function of authenticating copies, notarizing translations, or authenticating signatures, like the People’s Committees of communes, wards, districts, and cities do.
